I have some good news. 

The principles of building muscle haven’t changed in 30 years. 

But you know what has?

​Now, every trainer with a phone can post nonsense online. It’s like a 16-year-old taking selfies at a Taylor Swift concert. 

​It’s like bro!

​So, I thought I best set the record straight. 

​In my 20 years as a trainer and studio owner, I’ve helped 10,000 clients get amazing results. I want to share the principles of building muscle in a simple, no-nonsense format.

​The five levers to muscle mass are: 

  1. Intensity (in bodybuilding, it means proximity to failure. In strength, it means percentage one rep max) 
  2. Load (weight on the bar)
  3. Volume (sets x reps x load) 
  4. Stability (consideration must be made so we don’t get injured and have high output)
  5. Tension (how much mechanical tension is created inside the muscle)
